It was a delicious trip to Washington. Complete with everything from homemade prosciutto grilled cheese (yes, which we made ourselves at our hotel) to proper prime rib. I’d say we’ve tried a variety of treats…
In Spokane
Madeline’s –
A mother daughter restaurant, one of two restaurants by the same duo in the Spokane area.
I enjoyed a salmon quiche with the largest beet salad I’ve ever seen. I kept turning to N saying, “Man, if we were in DC this baby would cost $12-15! I’ve never seen so many beets on a plate — and as a side salad?!? Wow.”
N’s dish – meat loaf sandwich, which sounded less than appetizing to me, it was, of course, incredible, and with a chipotle barbecue sauce to boot!
Clinkerdager –
A delicious, fancy, date restaurant overlooking the water. We split the 16oz prime rib. It could not have been better. And if you want to try some spicy horseradish, their’s takes the cake! (There’s a bit of “mood lighting” going on here, so forgive the poor quality photo).
Steam Plant Bar –
Who needs dinner when you can have half price appetizers? The coal miner’s cheesy bread and a huckleberry brew made the perfect pairing. We enjoyed this and a few other treats along with their thirst quenching beers.
The Onion –
Whataburger! Wow, all local, delicious ingredients. And a place that brags that they make all of their own sauces. Need I say more? I don’t think so…
I had The Big “O” – ahhmazing. Served with two killer onion rings, bacon, cheddar, and fresh avocado.
N had the 1978 Mushroom Burger – with Swiss cheese and a brown gravy that makes your mouth water.
Newport, Washington
Ranchero Alegre –
Served on plates the size of platters, this place has some of the most delicious enchiladas and refried beans I have ever eaten. To say that I overate is a complete understatement.
I had the cheese and onion enchiladas and an avocado tostada. Perfection.
N had a chicken burrito.
Another work trip completed, and another state tasted. Unfortunately, I was only able to make it to the eastern side of Washington, so I’m sure for those of you who live there, you’ll see there’s a whole lot missing from this post. Nonetheless, it was a snowy and yummy adventure.
