Spiced Pecans

22 Oct

These nuts can go on just about everything! They can be served as an appetizer or snack, and they can be added to salads, soups, and desserts!

Whether I make them more savory or sweet depends on the mood I’m in.

These were made with:
1 6 oz bag of pecan pieces
1 Tbsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 Tsp curry powder
1 Tsp cayenne powder
1 Egg white, beaten and a pinch of salt

1. Mix up your dry ingredients. And put your broiler on low.
2. Cover a baking pan with tinfoil and use butter or Pam to grease the tinfoil.
3. Beat your egg white in a separate bowl with a whisk until frothy.
4. Mix your pecans into your frothy whites and throw in your spices. Mix well so all the nuts get evenly covered in spices.
5. Once well mixed, scoop your pecans onto the baking sheet. Broil 2-3 min (being sure to keep your oven door ajar, and watch so they don’t brown), remove from the oven and flip the pecans over using a spatula. Put them back in for 2-3 minutes. Again, be sure to keep your eyes on them while they cook.

Warning: Some broilers are very strong and will brown things in just 1-2 minutes. Make sure you don’t burn your pecans.

Other ingredients I have added to vary my spiced pecans:  brown sugar, nutmeg, grated cloves, and dried coconut. Play around with your spice cabinet, there’s no right or wrong here!!

OMG! Pure seduction into the (culinary) pleasure… Looks easy enough for the anti-chef like me to do.
