Kitchen Remodel Phase I

Working in a kitchen that you are about to take apart has its restrictions. With no microwave or dishwasher, and nothing in the cabinets, I have done my best to prepare hot meals the last few months. But, there’s hope on the horizon…The kitchen demo has been completed and the remodeling work has begun!

Here are some photos for those of you who never got a chance to see my 1960s kitchen πŸ™‚

As you can imagine, this guarantees we’ll be eating out for at least a few weeks. So Nick and I are accepting any and all dinner invitations for a good home cooked meal!

Here are a few shots of the demo! It’s coming along…

It’s wonderful to have everything out. Can’t wait to put the beautiful, shiny new stuff IN!

Your patience during the construction is appreciated. Can’t wait to show you where we are along the way!

Enjoy the summer, everyone!

Ahh, these are the BEFORE pictures! I was hoping for a moment that something is wrong with my eyes as my mind couldn’t accept that something is wrong with my friend’s kitchen. What a relief… Can’t wait to see the AFTER!

My husband and I are about to get this work started very soon. We are gutting our kitchen and starting from scratch! One of my main concerns (aside from being terrified that I will make the right decisions) is where we will eat! Dining out can become so expensive. I chuckled at your solicitation for a home cooked meal! That may need to be my next Facebook status πŸ™‚

Maya, In addition to updating your fb status, let me make a suggestion πŸ™‚ — set up a temporary kitchen. We couldn’t really do this and I wish we could have. Set up a space that gives you easy access to a fridge, micro, and your essentials. This includes knives, kitchen utensils, a Brita filter, wine/beer opener (A MUST), salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, spices, plastic baggies, etc. And an area with a sink so you can clean things easily. Also, if you are in Brooklyn, consider an electric grill if you have a balcony or maybe there’s a nearby neighborhood park with a grill station? Even having picnic food at home will save you money, so think cheese, salads, and cold cuts! Hope it goes well and good luck!
